St Anne's (Lydgate)
About
St. Anne's Church stands at the top of the hill on Stockport Road in the village of Lydgate. The Parish comprises Lydgate, Grasscroft, Grotton, Springhead, and parts of Scouthead and Austerlands.
St Anne's offers a warm welcome to all, whether regular worshipper or occasional visitor, young or old. Play bags and a creche are available for pre-school children.
Services are based on Common Worship. (Sunday 8 am Communion is Book of Common Prayer)
Junior Church joins the congregation for part of the 10.30am services and, along with the uniformed organisations, is in church for the whole parade service on the first Sunday of each month.
Baptisms are included in the 10.30am service on the 3rd Sunday of the month whenever possible.
The Parish Hall, across the road, is used for many church-related and other activities and accommodates Junior Church.
St Anne's has a robed 4 part choir, a Junior Singers group, and occasional orchestras! The church has a branch of the Mothers Union, Us Men and Us Girls groups. The Social Committee arranges a variety of activities throughout the year.
Links with St Anne's C. of E. Primary School are growing: as well as welcome and leaving services, the church has hosted Christmas, Easter and Pentecost ‘Experiences’ for school classes.
